Family Photo Shoot

My dear sister-in-law (thanks again, Krista!) once again took some amazing pics for us this year.  We had a lovely fall day that was perfect for being outside!  Here are some of my favorites:

Of course we also have many more different family poses, but since I don’t know which one I’m using on our card this year I am saving those!

Meet my Students (and future students!)

Recently, I have been seeing lots of ideas on Pinterest about interviewing your kids every year.  Some do this every year on their birthday, but I thought I would just do them all at the same time before we start school every year.  It will be fun to look back and see how their answers change from year to year!  I interviewed them individually so any duplicates are just by chance.

So, without further ado, meet my students:

This picture (above) is what happens every time I get my camera out.

This smile was captured in .5 seconds before she could cover her face once again!

Since Emma couldn’t actually answer the questions, I’ll give a little update about all the things she does talk about …
~Daddy – all.day.long I get questions asking where daddy is and when he’ll be home.  She adores her daddy and loves it when he gets home from work!
~Food – this girlie might be petite, but she can eat and asks for food all.day.long.   Now that she knows how to open the pantry door, I often find her sitting on the kitchen floor devouring an entire bag of raisins.
~Outside – she will go outside with anyone who is willing to go with her.  Some favorites outside are chalk on the driveway, jumping on the trampoline, swinging and sliding on the play set, playing on the deck, and trying to keep up with whatever the big kids are doing.
This girlie brings so much joy, cuddles, good laughs, and love into our family and I can’t believe she is going to be 2 in less than a week!!

>Happy 5th Birthday to my little peanut who isn’t so little anymore!

It’s always crazy having a birthday this time of the year, but Sydney has always been very understanding. This year in honor of the 5th, as is tradition we actually had a party this past weekend (of course, due to busy schedules it was mainly just family). And it was neat the way it worked out since our CG party was earlier tonight, so lots of our dear friends got to celebrate with us and sing to her.

We’re so glad that Sydney is a part of our family! She is a joyful, sweet, caring, compassionate and helpful girlie. She often serves me by playing with Callie while I do school with Hailey and Justin, she is quick to offer help in the kitchen and with cleaning, and she will always offer to run errands with me! She loves to snuggle with Daddy on Sunday afternoons to take a nap and is often filling our house with her singing. I love how she is maturing into a girl who is quick to seek forgiveness, displays being a peacemaker and one who worships God. We pray that her heart would continue to be transformed by the gospel! We love you, Peanut!

>Hair Cuts

>As you have probably noticed, Hailey and Sydney’s hair have gotten rather long. As much as I love their long hair, it has just gotten to be a bit much to care for since I am the primary detangler around here!

However, I am also cheap and don’t like paying to get my hair cut, let alone my kiddos hair cut … so I decided to give them hair cuts myself. I was a little more intimidated than I am with Justin’s, but thankfully I think it turned out alright. I didn’t go super short, that way I can always cut more off to make it even (or take them somewhere to have it fixed)! Sydney wanted her hair to be like mine, but I convinced her to keep it a little longer than that … primarily because I didn’t want to cut it that short myself! It was her first hair cut, other than a couple of small trims I’ve given her to even out the back so she was pretty excited. She keeps telling me how much she likes her new hair cut. Hailey is just happy to have less tangles to brush through!

Here are my girlies …
